Spelthorne Borough Council says it wants urgent assurances it won’t have to take in asylum seekers removed from a hotel in Essex.

The Bell has to stop housing them after Epping Forest District Council won its bid for a temporary block.

The Home Office is yet to reply to Spelthorne Borough Council’s three letters regarding asylum provisions in the borough.

Councillors are opposed to plans by the Government to repurpose The Stanwell Hotel for sole use by male asylum seekers.
