South East Coast Ambulance crews in Surrey can now access key parts of patients’ GP records while on calls.

The pilot lets ambulance staff view GP information through their electronic patient care record system.

Since June, crews have used the system over 2,500 times, mainly for falls and chest pain cases, with the aim of improving patient care.

The trial was due to run eight weeks but has been extended due to its success, with plans for wider rollout.
