Scientists at the University of Surrey and Roehampton say a natural plant extract could make leukaemia treatment work better.

Forskolin, from the Indian coleus plant, was found to slow cancer cell growth and make chemotherapy more effective.

The research focused on a rare but aggressive type of blood cancer called Acute Myeloid Leukaemia.

Dr Maria Teresa Esposito from Surrey says the discovery could mean patients need lower doses of chemotherapy, reducing side effects.
