The Labour mayor of London introduced TFL’s scrappage scheme to Londoners this week.
Merton council then announced that it was launching its own one-million pound scrappage scheme, with residents soon able to apply for £1,000 grants.
Khan says county councils neighbouring London should follow Merton’s example, but Surrey County council says the scrappage scheme should be extended to everyone.
