Mick Brown was born in New Cross, London.

In September 2007, Mick left Capital Radio after 29 years to pursue other ventures. Currently he lives in Cobham, Surrey, with his wife Brigette, and has two children, Nathalie and Joshua.

In Mick’s spare time he enjoys keeping fit, following his son’s future rugby career, socialising with friends and family, and property developing.

Mick started his career back in 1974 as an advertising junior at Selfridges department store in London, and got promoted to a producer for their in-house radio throughout the store.

Four years later, in 1978, Mick moved to Capital Radio where he joined as a copywriter and after two years he returned back to production, working with some of the greatest DJs of all time including Alan Freeman, Kenny Everett and Chris Tarrant. Seven years later Mick turned his hand from producing to presenting, where he joined forces with Pat Sharp for the “Pat and Mick Show”. At Capital, Mick worked on all the available presenting slots, including lunch time, drive time and weekend, and finished his 29 years at Capital presenting the Capital Gold London Breakfast Show. During his time at Capital Mick has been privileged enough to work with and interview some of the biggest music stars of our time including Paul McCartney, Elton John, George Michael, Take That, Lulu, Cliff Richard, Tina Turner, Barry Manilow, The Bee Gees, to name but a few!

As well as playing some of the greatest hits of all time, Mick has also dabbled in covering some of the greatest hits of all time too. During the late 80s and early 90s Mick helped raise nearly £500,000 for the charity ‘Help A London Child’, where he worked with Stock, Aitken Waterman and his co-host Pat Sharp to perform 6 hit singles – video here. In 2004 Mick, wrote and performed the hit FA Cup final song for London football club, Millwall FC, “Oh Millwall” which charted within the Top 40. Two years later, he also wrote and performed Capital Gold’s Official Song for Euro 2006 “Sing For England”.

In Mick’s 29 years in the media industry he has also had a versatile career in television, presenting a variety of shows including “Video and Chips” a hi-tech show aimed at kids, “Night Network” and “Sidestep” music magazine shows. Mick has a true love of sport, from cricket to croquet, squash to swimming, having run the marathon twice, in 1984 presented “BMX Beat” and in 1993 joined Sky Sports to present “You’re On Sky Sports”, a phone-in show, and “Sports Sunday” a 4 hour Sunday morning show based around all sport. In 2004 Mick was subjected to the wrath of TVs style gurus Trinny and Susannah as he appeared as the ‘hit’ on BBC 1’s evening hit show, “What Not To Wear”.

Mick has also written for many magazines, newspapers, and websites.
