Project Description

Presenters – Geoff Rogers

I’m one of the members of the Radio Jackie team from the early 1980s, when the station broke the mould and started broadcasting 24 hours a day to South West London. I’m really happy to be back with members of the old team and new people alike, working for the only radio station that has ever been SW London’s truly local voice and really pleased that we’ll be able to serve you until at least 2015.

I currently present the Weekday Evening Show and Sunday’s breakfast show (I don’t mind getting up early once a week!)

I’m also a fanatical Crystal Palace fan and hope that one day they’ll return to the Premier League.

Now some more facts about me:

I live: Walton-on-Thames, with my lovely partner, extremely tall son (he’s all grown up now) and 2 cats – both of whom would have received a telegram from the Queen if they were human…

One word that describes me – well several: ‘What you see is what you get’.

A surprising fact about me: I once addressed a committee room full of MPs at Westminster on the benefits of small ‘Community of Interest’ radio stations. That was a long time ago! But it was nerve racking and I’ll never forget it. Well we eventually got Community Radio – took over 20 years!

First record ever bought: ‘When my little girl is smiling’, by Jimmy Justice (that was in the 1960s!)

Favourite part of South West London: Pubs and riverside walks in Walton…. And the various Computer Fairs that are held locally so I can buy more gadgets that I really really need.

Best bit about working at Radio Jackie: Being part of the team that’s brought back South West London’s favourite station – Radio Jackie.

Worst bit about working at Radio Jackie: None really – apart from lack of milk often in the evening to make the lifeblood of presenters – tea!
