41-year-old Edward Webb stole more than £1,500 from charity donations, fragrances from Boots, and scratchcards from the Co-op.
Officers worked with local businesses to identify and apprehend him.
He pled guilty and was given a fine, community order, unpaid work, and a rehabilitation requirement.
