Officers were called to Latchmere Recreation Ground, near Battersea Park, at around 11.30am.
They found the children unharmed but witnesses reported the dog, who wasn’t on a muzzle or lead, had left the park.
The owner is believed to be a black man who was wearing a tracksuit, Canada goose jacket with a white fur hood and Nike trainers.
