Commander Jon Savell from The Metropolitan force is leading the hunt for Abdul Ezedi.
Police believe the 35-year-old threw a corrosive liquid over a mum in Clapham on Wednesday – she may lose her sight in her right eye.
Her two young children were also hurt on the night.
A 22-year-old man was arrested and has been released on bail, after being questioned on suspicion of helping him.
