Police are urging residents in Sunbury to be cautious after a series of card thefts from cash machines.

It’s reported thieves are targeting ATM’s where cards are swallowed, with one incident at the Tesco Extra on Tuesday last week.

Officers say the cards are later recovered and used by criminals before victims have the chance to cancel them.

People are being advised to check machines for signs of tampering and to use cashpoints inside bank branches where possible.
