Officers were called to reports of a single-vehicle collision on the Staines Bypass just after 5:30pm.
The passenger, a woman in her 20s, remains in hospital with serious injuries, and the driver has been assisting police with their enquiries.
Anyone who witnessed the incident between Fordbridge and the Crooked Billet Roundabout is asked to contact police on 101.
