Officers were called at 10:30pm to Tooting Bec Road, and the cyclist was taken to hospital where they remain in a life-threatening condition.
The van driver, 50, has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, failing to stop at an accident and unfit through drink.
Anyone with information or dash cam footage has been asked to call police on 101.
