Police and crime commissioners in England and Wales are going to be scrapped.

The elected officials were introduced in 2012 to oversee police forces and have responsibility for setting budgets.

But the government says at least £100-million will be saved when council leaders and mayors take over their roles.

Policing minister and Croydon West MP Sarah Jones says the project hasn’t worked.
