Plans to build a six-storey building and more than 100 flats on Hersham Green Shopping Centre have been turned down.

The scheme was rejected by planners at Elmbridge Borough Council at a meeting on Wednesday night.

More than 2,000 letters of objection had been sent to the council.

Developers, Quadrant Repurpose said its plans would have supported “the future vitality of the centre”.
