The authority is exploring ways to introduce a Low Line walking route between Nine Elms in Wandsworth and Waterloo.
It has already allocated funding for the project which would take in railway viaducts and include street art and green spaces.
The New York High Line is a 1.4-mile-long elevated walkway created on a former Central Railroad in Manhattan’s West Side.
