People with second homes or empty properties in Richmond are being urged to take part in a specially devised council consultation.

From the 1st of April, an additional premium of 100% will be charged if a property is unoccupied and unfurnished for more than one year.

Properties that are considered second homes will also be charged an additional premium of 100% Council Tax.

But the council says it wants to hear from some of these homeowners about if and why they feel they should be exempted from the rules.
