People with blood cancer who have exhausted all treatment options are being offered new hope by oncologists at St George’s Hospital.

A new one-time CAR-T treatment, which uses a person’s own cells to attack their cancer, is being rolled out at the site in Tooting.

The hospital says about 50 to 70% of patients respond positively when offered it.

It’ll benefit about 20 patients in the first year and be offered to those who have relapsed or where other treatment hasn’t worked.
