A stone tree planter installed at the site has been engraved with the words Modern Hall Park.

The new development is stone’s throw away from the historic Morden Hall Park.

A spokesperson for Merton Council told us;

“Thanks for bringing this to our attention.
The engraved wall is part of the new housing development on Morden Road and is not a council asset. The developer, Clarion, has been made aware of the spelling error and will be arranging for this to be corrected.
As the wall is the responsibility of the developer, there will be no cost to the council or to local taxpayers.
For further information, please contact Clarion”

A Clarion Housing Group spokesperson said:

“We apologise for this error, and after identifying this as part of our inspections, we escalated it with the contractor responsible so it can be corrected.

“They have ordered a replacement coping and we are continuing to press for this to be installed as soon as possible.

“In the meantime, our site team will take steps to remove the incorrect wording while the replacement is arranged.”
