People in Staines are being urged to report wildlife in distress at a popular nature spot.
Spelthorne Borough Council says Sweep’s Ditch now has little to no water in places.
It’s because the River Thames level is very low and cannot reach the inlet and pump chamber that feeds the waterway.
The authority says it is extremely concerned about the impact on wildlife and is working closely with the Environment Agency.
If you notice anything unusual such as distressed wildlife, please contact the Environment Agency’s 24-hour incident line on 0800 80 70 60.
