People are calling on Merton Council to turn down a planning application that would lead to the demolition of a part of Mitcham.

Objections are mounting against plans to build new flats in Church Road parade.

Those against the plans say they will erase the historic plots in the Conservation Area and result in a permanent loss of shops.

They’re calling on Merton Council to “protect the character” of Church Road and refuse the application.
