Built in 1890, the then “City of South London Railway” was the first electric tube line, and ran from an old station near Bank to Stockwell.
The line was then extended in 1900 to Clapham Common, with seven more stations, from South Wimbledon to Morden, added in 1926.
Six are now Grade II listed, and TFL’s Customer Experience Manager Ann Gavaghan says that stations like Balham still reflect that history.
