Data from the National Child Measurement Programme shows that’s the highest figure outside of the pandemic.
It’s also found more than a fifth in Year 6 were obese in the last school year.
Boys are more likely to be overweight than girls.

Halton in the North West of the country has the highest rate of reception obesity at 15.4%
At the other end of the scale, Richmond comes in at 4.6%, Kingston at 6.6%, Hounslow at 10.9%, Croydon at 10.6% and Merton at 7.8%
The information was compiled using the postcode address of the child and not their school.
