New data from Richmond Council shows the introduction of a 20mph speed limit across the borough has improved road safety.

The limit was implemented in March 2020 and covers 97% of the area’s roads.

Speed recordings were taken at 152 locations over a one-week period in May.

They’ve revealed average speeds on all the borough’s road reduced by 2.6mph and journey times remain “largely unchanged.”
