No trains stopped at the station on Saturday or Sunday despite information to the contrary online.
Network Rail says a points failure at Raynes Park on Friday on the equipment which allows the trains to change tracks was to blame.
On further inspection, we’re told engineers discovered specialist parts were required which needed to be sourced.
South Western Railway says the issue meant a number of changes to the service at short notice.
The company has also apologised for any confusion or inconvenience caused.
It was one of the busiest sporting weekends for SW London with the Boat Race and Surrey were in action in the Cricket at the Oval.
Network Rail says;
We are very sorry to passengers for the disruption they had to their journeys in south west London over the weekend.
On Friday, a failure of the points, the equipment which allows the trains to change tracks, in the Raynes Park area prevented trains towards London from stopping at the station, as well as at New Malden.
When engineers inspected the points, it was discovered that it had suffered more damage and required specialist parts in order to allow trains to safely run through them.
This caused protracted issues over the weekend as we sourced the right parts to rectify the fault, which we were able to complete overnight on Sunday in time for Monday morning commuters.
