Nearly 100 criminal investigations have been launched during the last year into suspected rule breaking by England’s water companies.

The Environment Agency says it’s looked into issues like illegal sewage leaks and poorly maintained treatment facilities.

Emma Reynolds, the cabinet minister responsible, says it shows under-performing and polluting firms have ‘nowhere to hide’.
