More than 9 in 10 cases involving tool theft in London since 2019 were closed without a suspect being identified.

That’s according to Met Police data released under a Freedom of Information request by Sutton’s MP, Luke Taylor.

The number that resulted in a suspect being charged in that time was just 347 which is less than 1% of the total cases reported.

Lib Dem Mr Taylor has launched the party’s Stop Tool Theft campaign in Parliament.
