More than 60 young rowers will go head-to-head today on the Thames between Putney and Mortlake.

They’ll be racing along the same stretch of river used for the world‑famous Boat Race which is back tomorrow.

Eight mixed crews from 14 state schools will launch from Fulham Reach Boat Club from 12.30pm.

The aim of the Youth Boat Race is to give children the chance to discover whether they like competitive rowing.
