Merton Council officers have begun patrolling the borough as part of a new safety initiative.

The Safer Streets Team is one of the ways the authority is trying to tackle antisocial behaviour.

The borough’s 24-hour CCTV network is also being upgraded and expanded.

The dedicated officers will help tackle street drinking and drug use, enforce the law and issue fines.
