London Fire Brigade is boosting water safety in South West London and Surrey ahead of Drowning Prevention Week.

Sir Ed Davey, MP for Kingston and Surbiton, visited Kingston Fire Station to see the river flume tank.

The tank, first introduced at Twickenham Fire Station, demonstrates river dangers.

The Brigade has responded to more than 280 water incidents this year and is raising awareness in local schools like St Mark’s in Hounslow.

Officials stress the importance of water safety education as summer nears to prevent drownings along London’s waterways.
