Lidl’s investing half a billion pounds into opening 40 new stores across the UK.

The German-owned supermarket chain, which has its UK headquarters in Tolworth, already has more than 980 stores.

It’s launched 23 over the previous financial year.

The company says it’s looking at hundreds of potential locations, including on high streets and retail parks.
