The authority has been selected to take part in the Cardiovascular Disease Inequalities Challenge Consortium.
The £50million programme is focused on tackling the inequalities that come with conditions like coronary heart disease and stroke.
Cardiovascular disease is responsible for around a quarter of all deaths in the UK.
But Black, Asian and Multi-Ethnic and people living in more deprived areas face higher risks.
