Lambeth Council has stopped social housing fraudsters from stealing over £5 million through scams like sub-letting.

The counter-fraud team has recovered 81 properties worth £3million over the last year and blocked 8 fake right-to-buy applications.

In one case, a tenant in Clapham was stopped from buying their council home after failing to declare property ownership and savings.

Residents are being encouraged to report suspected fraud surrounding social housing directly to the council.
