She lived at Ormeley Lodge just off Ham Common and was a well-known figure in the community.

Lady Annabel was the mother of six children, including former Richmond Park MP and environmentalist, Zac Goldsmith, financier Ben Goldsmith and film producer, Jemima Khan.

In a tribute on Instagram, Zac said; There are no words to convey just how much my mother meant to her family.
For me, my children, my cousins, nieces, nephews and siblings, for so many more besides who saw her as a mother figure, a confidante, a source of boundless fun, love and energy, the void we are now grappling with is profound.
We are all hopelessly indebted to her. We are so blessed to have had her in our lives.

Born Lady Annabel Vane-Tempest-Stewart in 1934, she was the aristocratic daughter of the eighth Marquess of Londonderry.

She married her first husband, Mark Birley, at the age of 19 but later divorced him and married financier and politician, Sir James Goldsmith, who died in 1997.

Lady Annabel wrote a number of books, including a memoir of her life in 2004.
