Consultant Cardiologist Dr Sunthar Kanaganayagam, who works at West Middlesex University Hospital in Isleworth, is calling on residents and businesses to support ‘Hospital Next Door’, a fundraising campaign led by hospital charity CW+ to support the development of the new Diagnostic, Treatment and Education Centre at West Mid.

‘Hospital Next Door’ aims to raise £1.5m to enhance the NHS-funded facility with a cutting-edge cardiac MRI scanner, supporting better heart health, alongside modern, patient-friendly spaces.

At the heart of the campaign is the ‘buy a brick’ initiative, inviting supporters to add their name and message to a virtual wall on the CW+ website, symbolising community support for the project.

Dr Sunthar Kanaganayagam tells Chloe Norman more about the campaign.

Due to open this autumn, the Diagnostic, Treatment and Education Centre will deliver:

• 57% more diagnostic and treatment procedures each year – almost 85,000 in total
• faster, more accurate results for conditions including cancer and heart disease
• best-in-class cardiac imaging – vital in Hounslow, where heart failure admission rates are the highest in England
• a greatly improved environment for patients undergoing oncology, haematology and kidney dialysis treatment
