It’s understood the co-owner of Chelsea has stepped up talks about a joint bid for the Daily Telegraph newspaper.

Todd Boehly and media tycoon David Montgomery are holding discussions about an offer, but its thought talks remain tentative.

If agreed, the deal would involve combing the newspaper’s titles and the London-listed company National World.
