It’s not every day that you hear about drivers being stopped for going under the speed limit.

But that’s exactly what’s happened in Sunbury.

Police pulled over the driver of a Nissan on Sunday night who they say was dawdling in lane two of the M3.

The woman was driving at between 45 and 50mph and when stopped said she thought it was “OK, as the left lane is the slow lane”.

The driver was handed a Traffic Offence Report for Driving Without Due Care and Attention.

Police say middle lane hogging is illegal in the UK.

They are warning drivers can receive an on-the-spot-fine of £100 and three points on their licence.

The standard speed limit on the M3 is 70 mph for most of its length.

However, there are sections with lower speed limits.
