The two sides first raced in 1829, when two rowing friends challenged one another.

Cambridge’s men have won the race for the last four years, while the women have won for three successive years.

Up to 20,000 people are expected to line the banks of the Thames between Putney and Mortlake.

Last year’s winners didn’t do their traditional Thames dip after the race following concerns about the water quality.
