It is believed a woman from Lightwater has become the oldest person in Europe.

Ethel Caterham has just turned 115, and a 117-year-old woman from Spain who previously held the record died on Monday.

Ethel’s birthday was celebrated with a party and a garden dedication in her honour at Lakeview Care Home.

She also received a letter from the King, who congratulated her on a “truly remarkable milestone”.
