Sheila O’Reilly, who served as a member from 2005 to 2018, having been elected in a by-election in the Osterley and Spring Grove ward and serving there continuously until May 2018.

Former Councillor O’Reilly had a long interest in planning matters and was Chair of the Sustainable Development Committee from 2006 to 2010 and remained on the committee when it became the Planning Committee until she left the Council.

She was also a member of the Isleworth and Brentford Area Committee, the Governor Appointments Panel, the Disability Community Forum, and the Members’ Constitution Working Party.

Additionally, Ms O’Reilly was appointed as the Council’s representative on the West Thames College Governing Body.
Ms O’Reilly is survived by her husband Peter, and her son Kevin.

Councillor Shantanu Rajawat, Leader of Hounslow Council, said:

“I was saddened to hear about the passing of former Councillor O’Reilly and my thoughts are with her family and friends at this time.

“Her dedication to public service and her work in, and influence on, the community she served, as well as the borough more widely, will never be forgotten. Her memory will inspire those who had the privilege to know her, and her contribution will be remembered in the borough for years to come.”

The Council will pay tribute to Ms O’Reilly at its next full Council meeting.

To mark the death of the Councillor, a black ribbon has been placed around the Hounslow Council flag in main reception at Hounslow House.
