Transport for London wants to merge it with the 72 route from next March.
The council is warning journey times between Hammersmith and East Acton could rise by up to 10 minutes as a result.
The authority also says the change will cut access to Hammersmith Hospital and Old Oak.
A public consultation on the plan is running until the 7th of September.
