Hammersmith Bridge is to close for six 24-hour periods over the coming weekends.

Engineers need to lift the 137-year-old cast iron bridge and replace the corroded, seized components with new rubber bearings.

It will be temporarily closed to pedestrians and cyclists from 8pm on six Fridays starting on the 25th.

River traffic will not be affected.
