GPs may now be able to prescribe weight loss dugs, but we’re being warned the process is not a quick-fix.

Brands like Mounjaro and Wegovy have only been available via consultations at specialist weight loss clinics in the past.

In order for a GP to prescribe the medicine now, the patient must have a BMI over 40 and 4 qualifying health issues relating to their weight.
