Epsom and St Helier bosses say plans for a new hospital at Belmont are still progressing while a government review takes place.

The new Labour administration put a pause on the previous government’s decision to build 40 hospitals in July.

Under the plans, services like maternity and A&E would be relocated from St Helier and Epsom to a new site in Belmont.

Trust bosses say they plan on upgrading the two hospitals, where 85% of patients would continue to be treated.

But they say some of their ageing buildings are not fit for purpose.
