England’s Joe Root and Harry Brook were both disappointed on day one of Yorkshire’s Division Two match at Middlesex.

They both fell for low scores with neither managing to reach double figures for runs, as their side were bowled out for 159 at Lord’s.

In reply, Middlesex closed on 84 for 2.

Reigning champions Surrey restricted Kent to 111 for 3 in their match.
