Elmbridge Borough Council must restart work on its draft Local Plan 2037 after the government refused a 12-to-15-month extension.

The plan, which guides housing, infrastructure, and green belt policies, was deemed “unsound” by the Planning Inspector.

Restarting the process could take 3 to 4 years and cost up to £1 million.

Current planning policies continue to protect Elmbridge’s green spaces and guide development.
