Croydon Council says it has made ‘significant developments’ in its progress since it declared bankruptcy in 2020.

A new report has been published by the Chair of Croydon’s Improvement and Assurance Panel.

Tony McArdle says that the majority of the priorities in Croydon’s Exit Strategy have been met to time and to the necessary quality.

This puts the Panel on track to leave Croydon next year.

The report notes that the area requiring most improvement, is securing long-term financial sustainability.

It says Croydon is likely to need a greater level of exceptional financial support from the government for 2025 and 26.

Jim McMahon, Minister of State for Local Government and English Devolution, has welcomed the Panel’s findings.
