The Pupil Premium helps authorities fund free school meals, groceries and school holiday activities.
The council recently undertook a data matching exercise to work out which youngsters were eligible for the cash but not receiving it.
As a result, primary and secondary schools will be handed nearly £1million in extra annual funding from the government.
