A man from Thornton Heath was successfully prosecuted for fly-tipping and ordered to pay £7,951 in penalties.
46-year-old Muhammad Ali blamed inexperience as a renovator and contractors who he claimed had agreed to properly dispose of the waste.
Total penalties included a fine of £890, the Council’s full costs of £6,705 and a victim surcharge of £356, totalling £7,951.
