Croydon Council has achieved “significant progress” in its plans to become financially solvent.

That’s the conclusion of a Corporate Peer Challenge report following a visit by the appointed team last October.

The authority declared itself effectively bankrupt three times between 2020 and 2022 with debts of £1.6 billion.

The CPC report and its recommendations will be discussed at a council meeting tomorrow night.
