Commuters using East Croydon station are being promised that the much needed pedestrian bridge will be opened as soon as possible.

Croydon Council, Network Rail and Menta Regeneration have restated their commitment to the project.

It follows a meeting with concerned residents regarding the completion of the public walkway over the station.

Network Rail announced in 2013 that it was to invest more than £20m into the development of an east to west over platform foot bridge.

Croydon Council has contributed around £6million and Menta has committed £15million.

The council says a timetable of how and when the bridge will be completed is now being developed.
